The Brief

PrintSafe is a machinery sales company, selling packaging equipment to food, FMCG, pharmaceutical and industrial manufacturers in the UK and Ireland. The company wanted to rebuild its old WordPress site to provide a platform for improved lead generation and to give new prospects greater depth of information to support their purchase decision.

What did we do?

This project started out as a conversation about getting more conversions from the website, and what we might be able to do to improve things. To try and identify any pitfalls with the sites user experience, our design team took a copy of the existing design, and added it to our design software so that we could collectively discuss and comment. During the process of exploring new elements and layouts, it quickly became apparent that a complete rebuild would be the most efficient approach.

Working through our design process, we quickly produced a number of the key website templates as interactive mockups using Invision. This allowed the client to critique and comment on the designs without the need for a developer to actually build them. This form of rapid prototyping also allows our design team to assist our developers with specific feedback on how pages and elements should be built.

Once the client was happy with the new designs and overall style of the site, we began the process of turning the designs into reality. This took the form of a password-restricted WordPress site, accessible only to the client and our team. This allows us to test the new site with various browsers and devices in real time, and provide feedback to the developers.

Whilst the development site was taking shape, our design team worked to create further page templates, such as the application and product pages and work through the design process for client approval. These were then build into the development site, until we reached a point where the site was ready for launch.

The final steps of the build process was to perform a number of SEO checks and discuss success metrics with the client so we could set up some reporting dashboards. These reports are used by the client to measure the success of their own marketing efforts, as well as general performance and user activity on the site.

The go-live process took place in the early hours of the morning, to avoid any disruption to potential customers using the site during the day. A small monthly retainer is now in place to ensure the site is kept up to date with regular updates, and to undertake any development tasks that may be required.
