Design process

We utilised our tried and tested UX design process to wireframe, mock up, design and build this complex ecommerce experience and make it user friendly.

BESPOKE ECOMMERCE FEATURES

Beds and mattresses are complex products, so we had to work hard to cater for everything the client and their users need.

Custom tracking and reporting

Using a combination of GA4 and Google Tag Manager, we’ve created some incredibly detailed reports on how customers are using the site, as well as being able to track every single showroom contact via various methods.

ECOMMERCE STRATEGY

The new site design raised many questions about how people purchase beds and mattresses, and our user research allowed us to make informed design decisions based on the latest trends.

The Brief

Beds Are Uzzz are an established business, selling beds and mattresses to customers across the UK for over 40 years. Our task was to create a faster, more usable experience for their customers and integrate various bespoke features to save time for their team to manage.

What did we do?

Having worked with Beds Are Uzzz for many years, we had an excellent understanding of how their old Magento2 website worked, as well as it’s myriad oddities. Despite having an above-average knowledge of the bed market, we started by focusing on their competitors and how people research and purchase new beds. What we found was that customer buying habits have changed significantly post-COVID, and that our designs needed to reflect that.

Starting with a series of wireframes, we used a series of customer journeys to simulate the buying experience for a number of customers. Once we were happy that the layout and features were suitable, we moved onto creating interactive mock ups.

Once the client signed off the designs, we started working on the complex task of organising the various attributes and custom fields attached to the products. We also spent time building a streamlined method of adding products to the site using a set of semi-automated spreadsheets. This meant the client was able to add around 13,000 product variations to the website much faster than they used to.

Once the products were on the site, we then started the task of populating the various categories with content, and adding brand logos and lifestyle images to bring the site to life. The end result looks amazing, with the new pink branding helping them to stand out from the competition.

We could write a small novel about all the innovative features and time-saving tools we’ve used on this site. It was an amazing learning experience for the team, especially when it came to squeezing the very best performance out of WooCommerce.
